Ads of the Past
I think ads are great, especially when they're able to make you think, but these ads from the past just make you question, "What were they thinking?". For example, the ad about being able to eat and never getting fat through ingesting 'sanitized' tape worms. I'm pretty sure that it would be bad to ingest any tape worm, whether it's sanitized or not. And the ad about how doctors smoked 'Camels' more than any other cigarette, but then when you think about it, wouldn't doctors know htat smoking is bad for your health? I think that ads back then, though the product that they're selling wouldn't exactly be good for you, they promoted it in order, of course, to sell it. For example, no one would eat lard, yet since an ad says that they (those in the ad) became happier after eating lard, they think, "Hey, maybe it'll work for me too!". I think that these ads tell us that the American society at the time was more about enjoyment, and that they were more laid back. I think that when these ads came out, it was the start of how the American society is today. I think that these ads imply that back then, men were still the dominating gender.Today, I think that ads are more thought out because nowadays, we don't have doctors promoting cigarettes or ads promoting ingesting tape worms, and even lard. Now, instead of promoting cigarettes, we have ads that go against cigarettes because we know that their bad for our health. I also think we have more ways to advertise products/services because we have the internet and better technology. We also make up catchy little jingles for commercials which get us singing along and help up remember the product.
Overall, I think that ads now are much better at promoting products/services, and make much more sense, then back then.

I've personally tried tape worms and lard. They don't taste good at all! I beg to differ with the ad that says "They're happy because they eat lard!" NO! It tasted so bad. And note to all those going to loose weight: tapeworm and lard don't work.
I was kidding. Haha. :)
I totally agree with you when you say ads today make much more sense. It seems as though they just put whatever they have out there and hope the people follow. These ads aren’t well thought out. Take a look at the first example; it tells you to eat whatever you want and then have sanitized tape worms flush the fat out - as if the idea of tape worms isn’t any creepier because they’re sanitized. People should right away realize that this idea is insane. What happened to eating healthy? Some things are just better off in smaller quantities. Just eat healthy!
Well I agree with you but you can't blame them since they didn't know that those things were bad. I guess back then everyone cooked with lard and butter or something not like the healthy canola oils we have today. Still It's kinda disgusting eating lard isn't that like eating a bar of butter? I wouldn't last after one bite.
